This course is NOT intended for GaTAPP, but instead to provide an opportunity for those not in GaTAPP to meet the HB671 requirement.
Satisfies the mandate of the House of Representative Bill 671, which requires the maintenance of Georgia teaching certificates through course work on identifying and teaching children with special needs.
The purpose of this course is to improve the quality of instruction for all students by increasing the capacity of teachers to identify the characteristics of learners with special learning needs and to assist them in meeting those special needs through adapted instruction strategies.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:
- Why is it important for teachers to understand the characteristics of categorized exceptionalities associated with educational learning problems?
- What are some proven effective strategies and materials that teachers can use with special needs learners?
- Do tools exist for formal and informal assessment to diagnose exceptionalities?
